Creating a 2D Parapara Animation

Learners will create and share their own 2D Parapara animations, learning community participation, composing, open practice, and sharing.

  • Preparation

    Create a Mozilla Persona account to access Parapara. You can sign-up from the Parapara site.

    Create a Parapara Wall and session for your workshop.

    Add a few example animations to the wall to help learners see what they're aiming for during the session.

    Show learners the Parapara site at Mozilla Japan and view a gallery to get a sense of how a group of users can contribute animations to a collaborative wall.

    Creating a Wall

    To make your own collaborative wall, click 'Create a New Event.' You can login with Persona.

    Customizing Your Wall

    After you create your new wall, give it a descriptive name and select a background fit for your class, club, or workshop.

    Facilitating Collaborative Animations

    Next, you'll navigate to a page that lets you facilitate the animation session. Share the link for the editor with participants. Consider launching the wall in a new window and projecting it for your learners to view.

    Invite learners to create animations using the editor from tablets, phones or laptops. An animation is created by drawing in consecutive cells. Parapara loops through the cells to animate the pictures. Learners can press play to preview their animations before publishing them to the group's shared wall.

    Hosting a Viewing Party

    View the animations on a screen or projected against a wall. Discuss with participants how the wall acts as a shared, open space for community artwork, discussion, and participation.
